Our Story

Our Journey to Lighting and Production Excellence Started Nearly 20 Years Ago Back in 2006

Erick's journey into the world of lighting and production began unexpectedly at the age of 20, while he was still in college studying to become an Electronic Engineer. He landed a job as a Bench Technician at Vari-lite Production Services, a renowned company in the industry, although at the time, he had no idea of its significance.

In this role, Erick repaired main control cards (CIB, MBC, PTM's) at a component level. This hands-on experience was invaluable, aligning perfectly with his studies in C++ and his dreams of becoming a Robotics Engineer. However, destiny had different plans for him.

A Life-Changing Moment

On his first day at Vari-lite, Erick had a transformative experience that changed his career trajectory forever. While fixing a Control Interface Board (CIB), he noticed a VL5B moving light performing a ballyhoo in the corner of his eye. Mesmerized by what seemed like magic, Erick was immediately captivated.

Curious, he approached his supervisor to learn more. His supervisor explained that they were working with moving lights controlled by a "console" – specifically, a "Mini Artisan" console. Erick was fascinated by the ability to control these lights, making them pan, tilt, and change colors.

From that moment, Erick's passion for lighting technology was ignited. He wanted to learn everything about this incredible technology and how it worked. His enthusiasm and dedication led him to delve deeper into the world of lighting design and production, mastering the intricacies of lighting control systems.

Erick's journey is a testament to his love for engineering, technology, and innovation. His early experiences at Vari-lite shaped his career, driving him to create stunning visual experiences and push the boundaries of lighting design.
